Saint Joseph seeks a lodging at Bethlehem

Description of Illustration: watercolor by James Tissot, restored by Kathy Grimm, Tissot named his paintings and this one is called "Saint Joseph seeks a lodging at Bethlehem" Mary rides a donkey; she is ready to deliver baby Jesus. Joseph is busy looking for a place for his wife to rest from their long journey. The scriptural reference for this painting is Luke 2:6-7. 

"While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them." Luke 2: 6-7 (NIV)
