"Der Palmsonntag leitet die Heilige Woche, die Karwoche, ein. An diesem Tag feiern die Gläubigen den Einzug Jesu Christi in Jerusalem – vielerorts mit aufwändigen und prachtvollen Prozessionen. In der Pfarrei Kößlarn im Rottal leben die Gläubigen das Brauchtum am Palmsonntag mit alten traditionellen Elementen. Fast einzigartig im gesamten Bistum Passau sind die meterhohen Palmbuschen und der hölzerne Palmesel, der bei der Prozession durch den Markt auf einem Wagen mitgezogen wird."
