"David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in
Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah." 2 Samuel 5:4 (KJB)

King David was, according to the Hebrew Bible, the second king of the United Kingdom of Israel and Judah, reigning in c. 1010–970 BC.
Depicted as a valorous warrior of great renown, a poet, and musician credited for composing many of the psalms contained in the Book of Psalms, King David
is viewed in biblical sources as a righteous and effective king both in
battle and in providing civil and criminal justice. He is described as a
man after God's own heart in "But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee." 1 Samuel 13:14 and "And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their
king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will." Acts 13:22.
The Hebrew prophets regarded him as the ancestor of the future messiah. The New Testament says he was an ancestor of Jesus.
